About Danbit

About Danbit

Danbit is a youth photography initiative that began in Danyang, South Korea. Through exhibitions and this archive, it shares photographs made by students as they observe and record the world around them.

Individual Ways of Seeing

A familiar street, a friend’s gesture, an everyday object, a change in the light. What each person notices—and chooses to photograph—is different.

These photographs hold moments discovered and chosen by the students themselves. Each frame reflects its maker’s interests and sensibilities, revealing different ways of seeing even within shared surroundings.

An Archive Across Years

This archive brings together student photographs and exhibition records accumulated over many years. Viewed together, works by different groups of students reveal recurring interests alongside individual discoveries.

Each year’s exhibition holds the perspectives of those who took part. Earlier photographs sit alongside more recent work, allowing visitors to explore the range of views that make up Danbit.

From Photograph to Exhibition

The students are the makers of the photographs. Danbit brings their work together in exhibitions, creating opportunities for others to encounter it through their own experiences.

The titles chosen by the students offer another way into their photographs. The archive presents images alongside their original titles and invites visitors to explore connections across years and subjects.
